ChocolaDeCacaofabriek – Chocolates worth the detour

ChocolaDeCacaofabriek Bonbons

It is already 2 years ago since I first tasted the chocolates of ”ChocolaDeCacaofabriek”. Little did I know that there was no going back.. I never found chocolates as tasty as the chocolates from ChocolaDeCacaofabriek. Not even de chocolates from price winning chocolatiers or chocolates mentioned in the Michelin guide. I even have to admit that I did not even like bonbons that much before I tasted the masterpieces of Hans van Bragt. He is the heart and genius brain behind the ChocolaDeCacaofabriek. I am convinced this man has a gift. Therefore I always call him: “The Chocolate Magician”.

A real experience

Tasting the bonbons from ChocolaDeCacaofabriek is a real experience. First noticing the tempting exterior and aroma of the bonbon. After which you take the first bite and be able to see the beautiful, often layered interior of the bonbon. The flavor also comes in layers, with different notes and aftertastes. Many food products nowadays are given alluring names that do not fulfill their promise. But for instance: if you’re trying a Mojito Cuban rum bonbon (which is one of my favorites along with the mango-avocado-bergamot and the speculaas chili pepper) from ChocolaDeCacaofabriek, you’re really getting the experience of a cocktail in disguise.

Believe me, as I say that these chocolates from this magnificent artist are worth the detour.

Like a kid in a candy shop

At ChocolaDeCacaofabriek both classical and modern flavor combinations meet each other. With the use of ingredients tailored to the season and chocolate from different regions around the world.  Such as Brazil Macae, Madagascar, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, and Congo. Aside from bonbons, also chocolate bars and spreads are procurable. ChocolaDeCacaofabriek offers luxury products that are at the same time accessible and well priced. You will really feel like a kid in a candy shop.

Located in a former Dutch cocoa factory

The ChocolaDeCacaofabriek is located in the former Dutch cocoa factory, founded in 1898. Believe me, as I say that these chocolates from this magnificent artist are worth the detour. You can combine your visit with enjoying an exposition, a movie or a nice sip and a bite in the restaurant, all located in the same building as “De Cacaofabriek”. ChocolaDeCacaofabriek – Cacaokade 3, 5705 LA Helmond

Did my enthusiasm motivate you to take a visit to the ChocolaDeCacaofabriek? Please let me know in the comments what your thoughts are and most importantly: what is your favorite bonbon?! 😀

Wow! It does not only look beautiful, but it also tastes fantastic. It must be a great experience to create it alongside Hans and be able to buy your own bonbon in a real chocolaterie.
